These four textures sit on a spectrum from the softest to the most defined. Body wave features large, gentle S-shaped waves that add volume without drama — the most versatile and popular everyday wave style. Loose wave sits between body wave and deep wave, with slightly tighter, bouncier waves that offer a natural, lived-in beachy effect. Water wave has a soft, well-defined wave pattern similar to naturally wavy hair that's been air-dried with product — lively, face-framing, and full of movement. Deep wave is the most defined of all four, with tight, structured S-waves that sit closer to a curly texture and deliver the highest level of volume and visual impact.

Loose wave is widely considered the most natural-looking wavy texture, as its relaxed, wide wave pattern most closely mimics hair that has naturally dried with a wave — the kind of texture many women naturally have or achieve with a sea salt spray. Body wave is a close second, offering slightly larger, more uniform waves. Yes. Because our wavy wigs are made from 100% human hair, they can be straightened with a flat iron for a sleek look or enhanced into tighter curls with a curling wand — giving you effectively two or three different styles from a single wig. Body wave wigs in particular are known for their styling flexibility, as they transition smoothly between a relaxed wavy finish and a straighter look. Always use a heat protectant spray and keep tools below 180°C / 356°F to protect the wave pattern over time.

This is one of the most common questions about wavy wigs and one of the easiest to solve. To bring waves back to life, lightly mist the wig with water until damp, apply a small amount of curl or wave-defining mousse or leave-in conditioner, scrunch the hair gently upward, and allow to air-dry on a wig stand. Avoid rough brushing when the hair is dry, as this disrupts the wave pattern and introduces frizz. For a quicker refresh, a small-barrel curling wand on low heat restores definition instantly.

Frizz is the most common challenge with wavy textures and is almost always caused by one of three things: dryness, humidity, or rough handling. Keep the hair well-moisturised with a lightweight leave-in conditioner after every wash, avoid brushing the hair when it is dry, and use an anti-frizz serum or a few drops of hair oil on the mid-lengths and ends to seal in moisture and create a smooth, defined finish. In humid conditions, a light hold curl cream applied to damp hair before air-drying helps the waves set and hold their shape against the elements.

Wash every 7–10 wears with a sulphate-free, moisturising shampoo and follow with a nourishing conditioner, working it through from mid-lengths to ends. After rinsing with cool water to seal the cuticle, gently squeeze out excess water — never wring or twist the hair, as this distorts the wave pattern. Apply a leave-in conditioner or lightweight wave-enhancing product, scrunch the waves gently upward, and allow to air-dry on a wig stand.
